What's best for the environment?

With a lot of information on global warming being known to the public, Many people try to do their part in saving/preserving the earth by going green, but some are not doing the right thing when it comes to saving the earth. The most common "green" aspects are from recycling and cars, today i'm going to be focusing on cars. Instead of a car that runs on gas, some people think it better for the environment if they use an all electric car, but is this really the best thing for the environment?

The answer is no, in fact depending on where the electricity is coming from, electrical cars can be much more harmful to the environment.according to the study published Monday by the proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, if the electricity is coming from coal, the electric cars produce 3.6 times more soot and smog deaths than gas, because of the pollution made in generating the electricity,

That's not all. when it comes to making the car, electric cars have to be made with a lot of light weight components, usually made from aluminum. These aluminum products take a lot of energy to make, so before you even get to use your new electric car it is already doing damage to the environment.

When it comes to cars, the best thing for the environment is a hybrid. granted, if one were to not use a car at all, maybe ride a bike or take a bus then that would help out the environment even more. but lets face it cars are much better, they are faster and more comfortable than other modes of transportation. So if you want to help out the earth, don't get an all electric car, get a hybrid.
